Hey Mamas: Let's Let Them See Us

Mamas, let’s let them see us.

Let’s let our daughters see us. Let them in, let them watch, let them learn, let them know, let them be.

Let’s let them hear us whisper—or roar—our wishes, our goals, our desires.

Let’s let them watch us struggle and fall, and then struggle and fall again another time.

Let’s let them recognize the strength in our vulnerability, the power in our focus, the determination in our hearts.

Let’s let them notice our disappointments, and then let them admire our will to persevere.

And then, let’s let them join us as we love all of our creations, as we give thanks for our rocky roads and accomplishments, and as we acknowledge the journey we’ve endeavored and the lessons we’ve learned.

For it’s one thing to tell them to go after their dreams, but it surely another to show them what that truly looks like.

Let’s let them see that our whispers and roars may not be the same as the girl next to us, but we can all get a little bit closer to our true purpose if we support one another.

Let’s let them understand that there’s enough room for us all to follow our dreams and reach them, there’s enough space for us all to pursue our goals and be great at them, there’s enough time for us all to enjoy the process along the way and to turn around and help those that are one step behind, and that there’s enough positivity for us all to look ahead at our role models and celebrate in their successes with integrity.

Mamas, let’s let them see us.

Let’s let our daughters see us. Let them in, let them watch, let them learn, let them know, let them be.
